Learning Through the Autobiography of Ms.Jane Pittman

As I grew up my parents have always taught me about self respect, but I never have thought about how long people were trying to prove themselves. Throughout the novel, the author show us how the slaves were not going to be walked over. Jane's mother died that way. She was tired of being treated like trash, and was beaten to death.
You want to be proud of who you are. Even slaves are still deserving of respect. We need to stop seeing ourself's as individuals, but as one working together for the common good of the people. Jane knew that jimmy wanted what was right, and because of that she went to the court house even after he was dead. They should have never been so ignorant to sell their own people as live stock. We are all equals. We shouldn't allow other, or ourself's, to think less of ourself's.
